Four new 64 bit processor from Freescale / QorIQ T Series
11-Oct-12

These new processor include a gigabit Ethernet switch in the chip. T1020, T1022,T1040, T2081. T1 and T2 are 64 bit processor build on 28nm process technology to maximize power efficiency. T1 family has dual and quad core processor and T2 has virtual eight core processors. CPU speed vary from 1.2 GHz to 1.8 GHz per core. All CPU has AltiVec 128-bit SIMD engine. Support for hardware hypervisor. These  processor are suitable for fixed routers, switches, integrated access devices, firewall and other packet filtering applications, as well as general-purpose embedded computing

All processors are pin compatible. This is a big step in freescale offering for networking domain. Freescale processors are supported widely by many tool vendors like windriver, greenhills etc
